America’s Got Talent season 18 – who is Lachuné Boyd?

It’s 2023, and AGT‘s season 18 is on the run.

New faces and new acts are coming to the stage of getting a ‘yes’ from the judges.

Lachuné Boyd is among the latest round of singers hoping to have their breakthrough moment on the show.

A woman who spent her life to date helping others find their voice finally got up the courage to let her own voice be heard.

And, she wowed the judges on AGT during her audition.

So, who Lachuné Boyd really is? A sensational voice awaits.

Who is Lachuné Boyd?

Lachuné, 31, describes herself as a storyteller, a vocal coach, and a folkie songster.

Born and raised in South Carolina, Boyd has been living in Fort Worth, Texas, she told AGT host Terry Crews. She said,

“Small town life! The closest Walmart is like 45-minutes away – so that type of small town. So, coming here and seeing that stage is definitely surreal.”

Boyd has been a vocal coach for Shine by Carey Lewis, and now has started her own online vocal studio, ‘Head to Heart.’

Lachuné was a nursing student

Talking with Gretta Hendricks from Tanglewood Moms, Boyd revealed that she was a nursing student at a community school in South Carolina.

There she met a woman from SWBTS, who taught a music appreciation course. And that was the first time she got to know how vast music was.

She discovered her love of music in church

Lachuné first fell in love with music while attending a small Black gospel church in South Carolina.

She revealed that the church’s improvisational expression of worship shaped her musically.

After that, she went to North Greenville University to study music.

Her advice to rising singers

As a vocal coach, Boyd has something to say to the rising singers.

Talking with Voyage Dallas, she said,

“I wish I knew failure was normal. I would advise anyone starting out to not overthink it but make it their first priority to find a mentor!”

She continued,

“Most of all, work at your own pace and find the work that excites you. When folks discover your work make sure they find the work you WANT to create and be known for. Be authentic.”

She already has released an album

Lachuné released her first album – Sing Hallelujah! – in 2022, consisting of 9 tracks.

One song, Gravity, is famous on Spotify.

Lachuné in AGT

Lachuné chose to perform ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay for her powerful audition.

Simon commented first starting with the word ‘fantastic,’ and continuing with some advice.

“Now you gotta work out, ‘what is my lane?’ Because you want to be a brilliant singer in a specific area, I believe. So that’s what you gotta work out.”

Sofia also accepted how perfect her audition was.

Heidi Klum then said she is happy to see Boyd putting herself first.

Howie then said,

“You tore down that wall, and luckily you did because you made your way right here and your life is about to change.”

As she wiped her tears away, Lachuné received all four yesses from the judges.
