Her metamorphosis from The Simple Life to a style icon, however, involved a dramatic weight loss shift that alarmed many followers.

Richie was your ordinary girl next door while starring in her debut reality show alongside Paris Hilton.

However, standing next to the glamazon that is Paris, it’s not surprising that Richie felt insecure about her weight and changed her diet and workout routine for the cameras.

The daughter of Lionel Richie was extremely thin at one point but later bounced back to normal weight. She adopted a healthy lifestyle and started exercising every day.

Now, she looks healthier than ever. And fans are curious to know how she accomplished such a feat.

Nicole Richie’s weight loss – Dropped to 88 pounds

Richie was said to have plummeted to 88 pounds at one time, and images of her on the beach in 2006 had her fans convinced that she was suffering from an eating disorder.

Later, Richie responded to the claims by admitting that she was having health issues. At the time, she told Vanity Fair:

“I know I’m too thin right now, so I wouldn’t want any young girl looking at me and saying, ‘That’s what I want to look like.’ I do know that they will, which is another reason I really do need to do something about it. I’m not happy with the way I look right now.”

The style icon went on to say that she had consulted a nutritionist to help her regain some weight, and today, she looks better than ever.

Richie, who starred in the NBC comedy Great News, however, has no regrets about her past.

Her diet plans

Richie has been accused of having an eating disorder numerous times in the tabloids, but she claims she never had it once.

However, she has admitted to getting excessively thin at one point.

She claims that a diet of fresh fruit, steamed vegetables, and fish helped her bounce back rapidly after her pregnancies.

The mother-of-two credits her spouse, Joel Madden, with encouraging her to eat nutritious, natural meals like fruits and vegetables, as well as lean meats like grilled chicken.

She doesn’t skip carbs entirely but prefers complete, complex ones like brown rice. She also includes local honey in her diet and avoids every food that is neon-colored.

Richie also does the pressed juice on a regular basis. She keeps track of her calories and does not consume more than 1,200 every day.

She cooks for her family on a regular basis and avoids keeping manufactured foods in the house.

Workout on a regular basis

Richie works out on a regular basis, but she keeps things interesting by mixing things up.

She goes on walks outside, attends classes, runs on a treadmill, uses ellipticals, and lifts weights.

The TV personality exercises almost every day for about an hour, and she often does cardio.

She also regularly takes Core Power yoga classes for improving strength, flexibility, and a mind-body connection.

Richie is a huge Tracy Anderson fan, and she follows Anderson’s approach to weight loss.

They’ve become friends and often post videos of themselves dancing on Instagram.

The fashion designer attends dance class four times a week on average.

She didn’t think she’d be able to dance for an hour and a half at first, but she had so much fun that she now believes she can dance for hours.
