Is Chris Appleton gay? What’s his sexuality?
Chris, having found solace in hairstyling, began his career at a salon in Leicester in his teens. After working at the salon for almost a decade, he developed a romantic relationship with the owner of the salon, Katie Katon, who was his best friend first.
In 2009, after stepping into fatherhood, Chris realized that he was gay. He came out publicly as gay when he was 26 years old.
In an interview with The New York Times, Katon, his then-partner explained that it was a “dark” moment for both of them.
During an interview for Gay Times, the ‘beauty mogul,’ Kim Kardashian asked the ‘gifted hair transformationist,’ Chris Appleton why he came out so late. To this, he humbly replied that he didn’t know that he was gay straight away.

Appleton revealed that even after his late realization, it to him some time to accept and understand that he is gay. He replied,
“Some people know straight away, I didn’t and it took me a minute to understand that and accept that and then come out.”
Chris Appleton’s ex-partners/ex-wives
Before coming out publicly as gay in 2009, Chris was dating Katie Katon, the managing director of hair salon George’s Hairdressing. Appleton was working at her salon as a teenager and got into a relationship.
The hairstylist told Grazia Magazine that he recalls panicking with Katie when he moved to LA in 2016, as he feared that he ‘gave it all up’ for nothing.
Appleton and Katon split in 2009, after having two children.
In 2018, Chris reportedly began dating Derek Chadwick. Derek, who came out as gay in August 2018, and Chris are no longer together.

Chris Appleton has two children
Chris and his ex-parter, Katie, share custody of two children: Billy Appleton and Kitty-Blu Appleton. Billy, his first child, was born in the UK, but now lives in LA and loves spending time with his father.
His daughter, Kitty-Blu also lives in the USA and is now 19 years old. The makeup artist-in-training moved to LA to live with her dad while honing her craft.

When Kitty-Blu was young, Chris would practice hair styling on her. She had blue extensions on her hair when she was just six years old.
Talking with Allure, she said that she’d love to style Kim with her dad.
“I’d love that. I want to be known as a makeup artist, not as Chris Appleton’s daughter.”
